Mr. Alejandro Morales purchased land without cultivation in 1963. At that time the only way to get to the farm was on foot or horseback. In 1982, the son of Don Alejandro, Milton Fredy Morales began to work the land, turning it into a small coffee farm.
With this new administration managed to acquire a water source, which is conducted from a remote
location, about 5 kilometers.
It also managed to build a road for vehicles, which is passable at all times. Another achievement that meant a lot of sacrifice because of the topography of the land, was the construction of facilities to benefit the coffee.
LOCATION
The farm is located in the the village Buena Vista, Michicoy village, municipality of San Pedro Necta, department of Huehuetenango, Guatemala, Central America. To reach the farm it takes 2.5 hours from Huehuetenango City.
"Finca Rosma" has been classified as a sustainable coffee farm, caring for two basic criteria. Environmental and social responsibility offer houses, schools and medical care to the employees of the farm. To conserve soil and biodiversity of the plantation is grown in the shade. This is beneficial for the plantation, native forest and wildlife.
To process the coffee wet mill uses eco. Acquisition of a superior quality coffee mill, because of their cascading efficient water washing system controlling surplus water in the wet milling process set to reducing contamination of wastewater through stacks decanting, this helps to preserve the natural environment of the farm.
